9cm Plant x 2
Crocus sativus, commonly known as Saffron Crocus, is a special and highly prized crocus species known for producing saffron spice. It produces striking, purple or lavender-coloured flowers with prominent reddish-orange stigmas (the saffron threads). Each flower typically has three bright red stigmas, and these are the part of the plant harvested for saffron.. The flowers have a classic crocus appearance, with six petals and orange stamens. Saffron Crocus plants are relatively small, with flowers reaching heights of about 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 centimetres). Unlike many Crocus varieties, the Saffron crocus is an autumn flowering plant.
What am I Buying?
Please remember that you're not buying 9cm tall plants. 9cm refers to the diameter of the pot commonly used in plant retail.
The size of the plant can vary greatly.
Most will be between 10-30cm tall unless they are naturally low growing plants or if you are buying herbaceous plants in winter.
Bulbs are a form of dormant plant which when planted in the correct conditions produce a full plant over time. Plants which naturally survive as bulbs will usually die down into the ground when their season is finished in order to store their energy to return the following year.
Reduced Plastics
Please note: In order to lessen our environmental impact, all of our plants will be removed from their plastic cell trays or pots before sending. Ensure you are ready to pot your plants when they arrive.
