WHAT AM I BUYING?

Plug plants are small plants or seedlings grown in cell trays. The trays we use can vary from plant to plant therefore we don’t make any guarantee on size. Please note plug plants can struggle to form roots in larger pots without the correct treatment, please follow the instructions below:

PLUG CARE:

Buying plugs can save money but they will need some extra care. Most small plants or plugs should not be planted directly into large pots or open ground. We recommend first potting into a small pot, a pot roughly the size of a tea mug is ideal (9cm pots are commonly used). Make sure you use a growing media that drains well. Water fully straight after potting but after this it is VITAL that you refrain from watering too often, a daily watering regime can stunt or kill a small plant just as easily as not watering at all. Allow the plant roots to fill the pot before potting on to larger pots or open ground.

Details:

Stevia 'Sweety' is a tender, bushy perennial often grown as an annual crop with dark green, elliptic to lance-shaped leaves that may be harvested for use as a natural sweetener with loose clusters of tubular white flowers.

Thyme 'Faustini' is a compact, bushy, dwarf, evergreen shrub to 30cm with highly aromatic, dark grey-green leaves and terminal clusters of tiny, pale pink flowers in summer.

The exotic pineapple sage 'Pino' has lovely smelling leaves of fresh pineapples. Perfect for teas. The decorative blooms which start in early winter can be used to refine desserts.

Wormwood 'Cola' is a special cultivar of the more common Southernwood, it grows into an attractive ornamental shrub with silvery-green foliage and yellow flowers later in the summer and into the autumn. It is very easy to look after and tolerates dry conditions and even drought.

The leaves of the bushy basil 'Magic White' & 'Magic Blue' have a very aromatic Far Eastern scent and taste. The basil provides high yields with full aroma throughout the summer. From June on they produce vibrant white or purple blossoms with high ornamental value which are very much liked by bumble-bees.

Lemon verbena 'Freshman' is a deciduous sub-shrub to 2.5m in height, with narrowly lance-shaped, strongly lemon-scented leaves and open panicles of tiny white or pale lilac flowers. The leaves taste highly aromatic of lemon lemonade. A tea for all occasions. Fresh or dried leaves have a calming and refreshing effect.

Mint 'Marokko' convinces with a strong spearmint flavour. The decorative leaves are used as a whole or chopped to provide a better flavour. Perfect for the preparation of desserts and teas.

French tarragon 'Pfefferkorn' has strongly aromatic, slightly aniseed flavoured leaves are ideal chopped and added to salads, fish, egg and chicken dishes. The leaves can be used to infuse white wine vinegar and it is an essential flavouring a buttery barnaise sauce.

The hanging oregano 'Diabolo' is aromatic and spicy. The growing tips of the stolons are yielded before they bloom. They are especially used in the Italian cuisine for pizzas, fish, tomatoes and aubergines - fresh or dried. The aromatic leaves have a digestion stimulating effect and are used against gastrointestinal diseases.
